What Should You Consider?

Extraction Speeds

The extraction speed determines the rate which the air is refreshed in a room, and a standard hood model should change the air around 10 times per hour. Larger rooms require higher extraction rates, whereas lower rates work better in smaller rooms.

Noise Rating

As kitchens become places for meeting and sharing moments at home, hoods increasingly need to combine high performances with silent motors. Following in-depth studies and extensive research, Franke was able develop a solution: Sound PRO.

Energy Efficiency

All cooker hoods are given an energy efficiency rating from D up to A+++. All our energy efficiency ratings can either be found on the individual product page on the website or in our Hoods collection brochure.

Filters

Carbon Filters increase filtration efficiency and are required on all recycling hood units. Used to catch unwanted odours, they are supplied in either circular or square format, depending on the model of your hood.

Width

Kitchens come in all different sizes and shapes, and so do our hoods. We have plenty of widths to choose from, starting from 37cm up to 90cm. You should aim to a purchase a hood the same width as your hob size, to get a more efficient result. Although you can get a larger size if your kitchen space allows.

Ducting or Recirculating

It is preferable to install a hood on an outside wall, as this is the most effective and quiet solution; emitting polluted air outside via ducting, and drawing in new air. However, hoods can be installed onto party walls, or suspended from a ceiling. To install a hood in recycling/recirculating mode (i.e. with no ducting to outside) a Charcoal Filter must also be purchased - these can be obtained from our spare parts department: www.central-servicesuk.co.uk.
