Mei and Jean Pierre's dream home
As an architect of modern design, Mei and her partner, geologist Jean Pierre, were eager to embrace a high-rise lifestyle, with its panoramic city views and close proximity to work and amenities. It was important for them to marry the modern feel of the skyscraper with elements that honour her heritage and his personal passion – ancient Chinese culture.
The design of the apartment is founded upon the clean lines it uses, both straight and curved, along with its neutral colour palettes spanning from white to warm, light tones and natural materials like wood and stone. And in order to echo the black detailing of the large window frames, Mei installed a Franke microwave and oven, crafted from stainless steel and sleek black glass. This enhances the luxurious design of the space, while the appliances make the kitchen the perfect space for growing families and gatherings at home.
With modern, minimalist foundations, Mei and Jean Pierre allowed their personal touch to shine through in the decor. From paper lantern lamps to whimsical forest wallpaper and posters of Chinese proverbs, these traditional pieces help to bring balance and life to an otherwise anonymous and futuristic skyscraper.
