All Franke sinks are available as right-hand or left-hand drainer - where a sink is only available in one format this is always specified on the Specification Sheet and in our brochure. Reversible sinks automatically offer that choice.

Yes. Any sink that has a 3 1/2“ waste (90mm) is capable of having a waste disposal unit connected. For Franke ceramic sinks an Extended Flange is available for Continuous Feed models. If your sink has an overflow you may need to purchase a WDU Overflow Converter, available from our service agents.

Many Franke sinks come with a Hygienic Overflow, which offers versatility for cleaning. Simple removal of the logo plate reveals the overflow aperture for easy, hygienic cleaning. Most Franke sinks have rigid overflow pipes and can be cleaned by pouring boiling water into them. Alternatively use a proprietary cleaner.
Despite any regulatory enforcement, in common with many sink manufacturers Franke make provision for a mechanical bond to be made to inset sink models. This is often done by utilising one of the cut-out points for the clips along the length of the clip rail. In the case of sliding clips Franke make a hole at the end of the clip rail length where the bond can be accommodated.
This depends on the worktop but we would recommend that you seek professional advice. A template and fixing clips are provided in the box. Some circumstances may allow for fitting a bowl directly to the worktop. Alternatively a plywood template can be made to the size of the sink, which will effectively 'sandwich' the sink flange, when addressed to the underside of the material. We would recommend the use of a sealant between the flange of the sink and the worktop to avoid any water ingress. In all cases you are advised to consult your supplier.
You should take into consideration the position of the overflow in the sink, as your worktop fabricator may need to router out the worktop material to accommodate it. Call our Consumer Care team and we can advise you.

Generally, Basket Strainer Wastes are put with a sink by a distributor when an order is received from a retailer. You should contact your retailer and they will be able to contact their distributor accordingly.
No. Stainless Steel will always scratch (whether it be of Franke's manufacture or competitor) and because of the directional polishing marks on many Franke models the scratching will show up quite dramatically initially. However, with use and cleaning using a proprietary cleaner such as Franke Stainless Steel Cleaner which you can purchase here) the stainless steel will eventually build up a patina over the years and the scratching marks will not be as evident. Franke Stainless Steel Cleaner is recommended for regular maintenance of stainless steel sinks. This cleaner is easy to apply; just spread a small amount on a damp cloth, and distribute it throughout the sink with minor circular motions. Leave to work for a few moments and rinse with clean water. Afterwards, polish with a dry cloth - the Franke Microfiber Cloth is ideal. You can purchase both these products here.

Your sink is made from high quality 18/10 chrome nickel steel. That means it’s metallurgically incapable of rusting or corroding in normal household conditions. If rust and corrosion problems do occur, tiny iron particles deposited on the surface will be the culprit. These either come from the water supply or are left behind by wire scouring pads or utensils. It’s essential to clean off these filings and dry the sink thoroughly afterwards. If you let them stick around, they’ll cause rust.
If you want to remove any rust stains from your products, we recommend using a cleaning agent containing oxalic acid (e.g. Bar Keepers Friend®). Always use mild, non-abrasive cleaning agents such as Franke Stainless Steel Sink Cleaner to remove stubborn stains from your stainless steel and make sure you thoroughly rinse away any cleaning liquids once finished. Oh, one more thing, when cleaning your stainless steel, NEVER USE STEEL WOOL PADS. We, and our stainless steel, thank you in advance.
We would point out that unless the particles are completely removed they will return. It is therefore very important that after cleaning the sink, it is dried thoroughly - a Franke Microfiber Cloth is ideal. This process needs to continue until the problem disappears. The problem is sometimes particularly obstinate to remove and it may take several attempts to restore the sink to its pristine condition.

Discoloration and most marks on stainless steel are caused by water-borne deposits clinging to its surface. As a general guide, cut inside the overall frame dimension (by inverting the sink on the worktop) by 8mm all round and always use a 20mm (important!) radius at the corners. Cut out sizes are shown on the specification sheet for each sink. If a template is provided, please use that.
Due to the nature of the backing to the glass of Glass Inset Sinks, it is important that an acid free sealant is used when installing the sink in the worktop. This prevents any reaction between the sealant and the backing to the glass. The acid free sealant we recommend – which we believe is available from Screwfix – is made by Dow Corning® and is called DOW Corning® 799 Glazing. Please refer to the installation instructions enclosed with the sink for more information.
The 3 basic measurements for comparing sink sizes are:
- Depth – distance from the top of the rim to the bottom of the sink next to the waste
- Taper – inward slope of each side of the sink from rim to bottom
- Radius – measure of the bowl’s corners & bottoms where the sides and bottom meet
The deeper the bowl, the straighter the slope and the tighter (smaller) the radius, the more capacity there is in the sink.

OPTION 1
If you have a coloured dot on the front face of the sink, knock out the taphole as follows:
- Ensure colour sticker is in centre of pre-formed taphole.
- Take sink out of box and rest the sink vertically against your legs with the face of the sink facing outwards and ensuring the taphole is for the correct hand drainer (take care not to damage the edge of the sink in the process).
- Take a centre punch and place on the centre of the colour sticker.
- Strike the punch hard with a hammer - this will result in the core of the tap hole being knocked out.
- Finish off using the ball of the hammer and using a round file.
OPTION 2
If there is NO coloured dot on the front face of the sink, use the hole drill bit provided (FUN 112.0473.656) which is stuck to the back of the drainer next to the sink bowl. Drill out the taphole FROM THE BACK OF THE SINK.

For day-to-day care, all you need is water and a damp cloth such as a Franke Microfiber Cloth. A fast and easy way to remove water marks, grease or soap scum deposits, is with Franke Coloured Sink Cleaner, or with a proprietary bathroom cleaner such as Ajax or Flash liquid spray, or similar products found in your supermarket.

Only drill Tap hole FROM TOP FACE
1. Decide on the pre- punched tap holes you require.
2. Measure to find the centre of the pre- punched tap hole required and cover the area with masking tape.
3. Using a centre punch, crack the glaze in the centre of the required hole.
4. Using a No. 8 masonry drill, carefully drill a small pilot hole from the top. NB. Only drill one small hole
5. You can then proceed to enlarge the hole to the required size by carefully using your hammer with the centrepunch.
Due to its unique coating, Tectonite sinks are resistant to all common liquids etc that are used in the kitchen (tomato sauce, vinegar, red wine etc.). The sink can be cleaned using Franke Coloured Sink Cleaner which can be purchased here, and a sponge or cloth. For more information click here.
- Tectonite is a combination of three elements:
- SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) a glass fibre, polyester based, carrier material;
- Chemically fused 3rd Generation PiMC (Powder In Mould Coating) which gives the sink its colour, heat-, scratch- and wear and tear resistance;
- Unique texture which gives the sink its granite look.
- The sink is made by hot compression moulding with hydraulic presses.
Tectonite can withstand temperatures of up to 300°C. Despite the fact that Tectonite is very heat resistant we always advise to use a coaster when putting a hot pan on the sink.

Occasionally a heavy tap can 'flex' on some large stainless steel sinks. This can be rectified by your tap being braced, and it is not unusual for people to have this kind of problem with a stainless steel sink, and is not a problem emanating from the sink or tap being defective in any way.
To brace the tap, you either need a piece of wood or chipboard which can be screwed across the underside of the worktop cutout and the existing tap can be fixed through a hole in this, or you can utilise a tap brace. In this way the tap is effectively secured to the underside of the strut and not to the underside of the sink, and this reduces any tendency for the sink to flex when the tap is turned on or off.
Franke also produce a patented Tap Brace which will provide a solution to the problem of 'flexing' of heavy taps on some stainless steel sink models. Fitting directly to the worktop, the tap brace has a variable collar which fits all models of taps. You can purchase the Franke Tap Brace here.

Simply spray Franke Tap Cleaner onto your tap, leave to work for a few moments, then wipe with a Franke Microfiber Cloth.

Tap spouts are most commonly removed by:
1.Undo the grub screw at the back of the tap
2.Unscrew the collar at the joint with the body
3.Located lug in bayonet
Flow rate can be affected particularly on the hot side of traditional vented plumbing systems. We do not recommend ceramic disc taps where there is less than 4 metre head of water. For combi boiler installations check with the manufacturer. For more information on flow rates click here.
Operationally ceramic discs can last for the life of the tap. However, mechanisms can be affected by water borne particles or hard water. To obtain replacement valve mechanisms contact our service agents.

PVD means Physical Vapour Deposition. This is an industrial process that provides a very resilient and robust finish to the tap, giving it a coating-like appearance.
NB Prior to April 2022 'Decor Steel PVD' finish was known as 'SilkSteel PVD' finish.
Franke taps are designed to complement Franke sinks, and not necessarily match exactly. Decor Steel taps will complement brushed finish appliances such as an oven and hob in your kitchen. Franke stainless steel taps such as the Eos, Panto and Valais will be a very close match to a stainless steel sink.

The makeup of water (including the levels of chlorine) varies from area to area and this will mean that the water may taste or smell slightly different from the water that you were used too. Another reason may be due to our having to alter the treatment process slightly depending on the weather, demand and time of year. These factors all affect the levels of chlorine that we must add to the water which in turn will slightly affect the taste and smell.
Incorrectly installed water softeners, fitted to washing machines for example, can cause salty tastes and contaminate the drinking water supply. Do not drink water from water softeners because it contains high levels of salt – you should always use a tap with unsoftened water for cooking and drinking.
There are several possible causes of unusual tastes or odours in water:
TCP tastes can occur when the internal stop tap has been operated to carry out any work, or if the tap is operated after many years of not being used. Washers can start can start to degrade over time and cause TCP taste and odour problems. However this applies more to properties where the internal stop tap is more than a few years old and is seldom or never used.
Since TCP like compounds are formed when the chlorine reacts with plastic or rubber, this sometimes means that the TCP taste is more noticeable when the Chlorine level is highest. Although Chlorine is added to water continually a demand for water can mean that it may sometimes have a higher level of chlorine in it, for example, in the morning or when you get home from work.

Please note the following points:
Place the foodstuff to process in the middle of the chopping board, not on the side. The chopping board might tip if pressure is applied to one side only.
Do not use knives made of ceramic material as this may cause damage to the surface.
The chopping board consists of tempered safety glass and is more shock and heat resistant than ordinary glass products.
Do not expose the chopping board to temperatures below 0°C or over 80°C. Do not use the product on hot plates or in ovens, microwaves, freezers or dishwashers.
Cleaning and care:
Normal staining can be removed with soap and water. Tenacious staining of the worktop should be removed with a glass rubber and then treated with a mild detergent.
Do not use cleaning products for glass ceramic hobs as these products should not come into direct contact with foodstuff.
Do not use abrasives (liquids or sponges) or aggressive detergents such as cleaning spray for ovens, bleach or other chemicals.
Franke is not liable for damage caused by improper or unsuitable use and non-compliance to the above cleaning instructions.
The Hygenia Chopping Board is made of Polyethylene, is extremely durable, and is capable of being washed in the dishwasher. It is heat resistant up to a maximum of 100°C, however under certain circumstances very hot utensils may brown the surface. As an oil based product it is not scratch resistant, and the surface will abrade over time.
Wood is a natural product it is therefore subject to absorbing moisture, and if the quantities of moisture are not equal on both sides it can bow especially so when the product is first used.
However, this can be corrected by wetting the board on both sides and leaving it to dry overnight on a flat surface with the convex side uppermost. This is most conveniently done with the board placed over the bowl.This enables the warp to drop out and as the board gets more use it will eventually stop warping. We also recommend occasional oiling of the board with a good quality vegetable oil, to make the surface more water-resistant. Do not put the board near a heat source and do not put it in direct sunlight to dry.
The life of the basket very much depends on the type of use it receives, and we notice that some customers choose to use the basket in the sink for washing-up purposes (for which it was not designed). If the basket is used in this way its life is considerably shortened due to the constant immersion in hot water. This softens the plastic coating which then becomes susceptible to piercing by sharp objects such as knives, forks etc. When water penetrates onto the metal frame it rusts and subsequently the plastic coating cracks and breaks away and if used in this manner it does mean that the life of the basket is considerably shortened.
You may wish to add water to thicker concentrated liquid soaps, in a 1/3 water to 2/3 ratio to reduce the possibility of clogging. Regular cleaning of the soap dispenser is also recommended.
You should avoid anti-bacterial soaps, as these can cause corrosion of your dispenser over time.

Yes. For Minerva, the water is stored under pressure at 110°C in the heating tank and is boiling (100°C) when it leaves the spout.
Omni’s boiler stores water at 105°C – ensuring that the water is truly boiling – at 100°C when it leaves the tap’s spout. Many of the hot water taps available – often described as ‘kettle hot’ or ‘near boiling’, do not dispense boiling water at 100°C – so it is worth double-checking a hot water tap’s technical specification prior to purchase.
Yes. As the Minerva and Omni taps fit in a standard 35mm tap hole, they can be retro-fitted to replace an existing tap.

No, using a kettle will be a thing of the past and you will wonder how you ever managed without an Omni or Minerva Instant Boiling Water Tap!
The Minerva Original, Minerva Irena and the Omni tap models can be installed with the boiling water handle either to the left or the right side. We recommend that you position the spout opposite to the boiling water control when operating, bearing in mind the position of your sink bowl(s) and whether you are left or right handed. There is a Franke logo positioned on either side of the tap body, and there is no grub screw.
The Minerva Helix and Minerva Mondial must be fitted with the boiling water handle on the left.
The Minerva 3-in-1 tap has a safety button fitted in the boiling water handle which needs to be activated to operate the boiling water function. When this button is released the handle closes automatically and shuts off the supply of boiling water. As you would expect when dealing with boiling water, sensible precautions need to be taken when operating the boiling water function.
The Omni 4-in-1 tap has 3 safety functions on the lever which operates the boiling water:
- A red lever locking clip:
This prevents the boiling water lever from being used. - A lever interlock:
The lever is spring loaded. It must be pushed down and held in position before it can be operated. - Spring loaded automatic shut-off:
If you release the handle it will spring back automatically and shut off the boiling water.
The primary function of the Franke 07 filter, supplied as standard with the Minerva system, is to protect the heating tank from the build-up of limescale deposits and remove chlorine to improve the taste and odour of the boiling water.
The Franke 08 filter cartridge supplied with the Omni system has been specially formulated to do two jobs: provide high quality drinking water and protect the boiler. The Franke 08 filter cartridge will remove sediment, chlorine and a range of unwanted chemical contaminants and protects the boiler from the effects of limescale and corrosion.

The Franke 07 filter cartridge supplied with the Minerva system should be replaced every 6 months to maintain your guarantee. Routine replacement of the filter cartridge is particularly important in hard water areas to prevent limescale forming and potentially damaging the heating tank and the tap.
The Omni’s Franke 08 filter cartridge must be replaced every 6 months to maintain your system’s guarantee and ensure consistent performance.
The Omni tap features a cartridge change indicator. It illuminates and flashes red to indicate it is time to replace the filter cartridge. The indicator system requires 2 x AA batteries.
The Franke 08 filter cartridge has been specially formulated to do two jobs: provide high quality drinking water and protect the boiler. The Franke 08 filter cartridge will remove sediment, chlorine and a range of unwanted chemical contaminants and protects the boiler from the effects of limescale and corrosion.

Please note that only genuine Franke filter cartridges must be used. Failing to do so will void your Minerva or Omni guarantee.
Due to the compact design of the Minerva system – 550mm x 211mm x 142mm high - it will fit comfortably inside a standard 600mm kitchen cabinet. Where space is at a premium the heating tank can be installed in the kick space behind the plinth of the cabinet, but bearing in mind that it will be necessary to provide convenient access to operate the tank reset button.
The Omni boiler and filter system will fit comfortably into a standard kitchen unit. The boiler measures just 352mm high x 182mm wide x 233 deep. The filter housing is similarly compact and is simply attached to the side of the kitchen cupboard. An additional 80mm clearance must be allowed above the top of the boiler for the various hose connections. Longer hoses are available at extra cost if required.

The Minerva boiler and Omni boiler are both designed to be connected to a standard domestic 220/230 volt 13 amp supply, and come complete with a power lead for plugging into a standard 13 amp wall socket.
To operate correctly the Minerva heating tank requires both the hot and cold mains water pressure to be minimum 2 bar (29psi), maximum 4 bar (58psi). On no account should the water pressure exceed 4 bar (58psi) or the pressure relief valve will bypass and dispense cold water. We recommend that a professional plumber is employed to measure the water pressure at a low demand period. It is preferable for the hot and cold supply pressures to be equal.
For Omni, the hot and cold water pressure should be between 1.5 bar (23psi) 5 bar (75psi).
If the water pressure is above the maximum of 5 bar, a Pressure Reducing Valve should be installed in the water supply to the heating tank. A suitable Pressure Reducing Valve can be purchased from any plumbers merchant or online at www.frankefilterflow.co.uk.
If you unsure about water pressure we recommend that you engage a qualified plumber.
For a satisfactory performance the Omni requires a minimum water pressure of 1.5 bar (23psi). It will work on a gravity fed hot water system but you are unlikely to be happy with the flow. If your hot water pressure is too low we recommend that you install a suitable booster pump.
The Minerva tap will dispense up to 47 cups of 100°C boiling water per hour with a recovery time of 15 minutes from empty.
The recovery time for Omni is 10 minutes after drawing off approximately 8 cups of boiling water.
Boiling a kettle can be a waste of water and time; the Minerva 3-in-1 Tap is effectively insulated and unlike a kettle there is no waste of boiling water, meaning less energy used and savings in water and electricity.

Due to the high-tech nature of its construction the Omni 4-in-1 Tap is highly energy efficient and consumes very little power. Leave the Omni on standby for 24 hours and it will cost just 2.3 pence (based on tariff of 14p/kwh). Making the equivalent of 10 mugs (300ml a mug) of boiling water a day will cost as little as 10 pence in total.
The Minerva tank is fitted with a safety device that will shut-off the boiling water if the tank is switched on without water, or there is a power surge. The hot water flow can be restored by operating a reset button, located behind a white plastic cover, on the front of the tank (opposite side to where the braided inlet and outlet hoses are connected).
Disconnect the Minerva tank’s electrical power supply. Operate the boiling water handle on the tap to check that the tank is full of water. Use a small screwdriver to remove the white cover to reveal the button in the recess. Press the button firmly with the flat end of a pencil until you hear a click to reset the tank. Replace the white cover.
Switch on the power supply and allow 20 minutes for the tank to reheat before use.
Operating the Omni's filtered boiling and filtered cold water couldn’t be easier. To dispense boiling water simply depress the lever, hold it down and rotate it against the spring pressure. To dispense cold filtered water it is not necessary to depress the lever, you simply rotate it in the opposite direction. The Omni’s patented design ensures that all the tap’s functions are mechanically activated and do not rely upon complicated and/or expensive electronic controls.

When designing the Omni great attention was paid to making it easy to install. No specialist tools are required. Given that there is a convenient electrical plug socket, a competent professional will be able to install and commission an Omni system in 2 hours or less.
The Omni is supplied complete with everything needed for installation, including a filter unit. The only possible additional part that would be required is a pressure reducing valve in the event that you water pressure is excessively high i.e. 5 bar (75psi) or above. A suitable pressure reducing valve can be purchased from any plumber’s merchants, or from our service agents (the article number for a pressure reducing valve from our service agents is 133.0577.153).
Yes. The surfaces of the Omni tap are manufactured from solid, premium grade, “High Shine” stainless steel and are therefore virtually indestructible. Most taps are made from brass with a plated surface finish which is generally less durable and difficult to maintain.
The Minerva 3-in-1 Tap has an insulated spout and operating handle.
For the Omni 4-in-1 Tap, apart from the tip of the spout the surfaces of the Omni are safe to touch as they are not in direct contact with boiling water.

The Minerva 3-in-1 tap dispenses boiling water at the outlet of the spout and, as a consequence, there will be some splutter, steam and noise. This can be quite off-putting at first, but any concerns are quickly dispensed with once the simple technique for operating the boiling water is understood.

You will see the operator rotate the tap handle carefully to run off the lag of non-boiling water until the water starts to steam; they then stop, put the receptacle completely over the end of the taps spout and continues to dispense the boiling water, at the same time gradually lowering the receptacle. Adopting this method ensures all of the boiling water is contained and prevents any splashing your hands.
MINERVA 3-IN-1: Like any kettle this depends on how hard the water is in a particular area. If you have a particular issue with limescale, you can contact Franke FilterFlow on 01603 875 468 to get another Inline Filter or a replacement type of filter that will do the job of reducing limescale.
OMNI 4-IN-1: Hard water affects over 50% of the UK, but it is still variable within those areas. The Franke 08 filter cartridge that is supplied with an Omni system has been especially formulated to protect the boiler’s heating element from the adverse effects of limescale. This is why it so important for filter cartridges to be replaced every 6-9 months, depending on usage.
On the Minerva 3-in-1 system, the guarantee period is 2 years on the Heating Tank and 2 years on the Tap from date of purchase.

The Omni and Minerva systems are only suitable and guaranteed for use in a domestic kitchen environment. A domestic installation would refer to either a home with single occupancy or a family environment.
MINERVA 3-IN-1: Simply unplug the Heating Tank whilst you are away. On your return, plug the unit back in and turn on the boiling water tap to drain the water from the tank. Once the tank has refilled and heated (22 minutes) the tap can be used in the normal way.
OMNI 4-IN-1: Simply turn off the power switch on the tank, then turn the water supply off by rotating the shut off valve by 90º. On your return from holiday, simply turn the water supply back on, then switch on the power switch on the tank. We recommend allowing 15 minutes to let the tank get back up to temperature, then flush through the tank of water once. Allow tank to refill and heat back up. The product is now ready for use.
The Minerva Tundish is a plastic cup which hooks on to the pressure relief valve. Its job is to catch the drips from the Pressure Relief Valve, and it is also a water trap to prevent any unpleasant odours escaping from the sink waste. The Minerva tank is sealed, so it is supplied with a Pressure Relief Valve to allow it to vent. Once the tank is switched on and the water begins to heat, steam is created and the pressure starts to build. Once that pressure reaches 5 bar, the Pressure Relief Valve opens to relieve the pressure. The steam condenses on the end of the Pressure Relief Valve and drips into the Tundish. The Tundish is connected to the sink waste so the water can run to drain.
A common after sales issue is when installers or customers observe that the pressure relief valve has water constantly dripping or running into it. If that is the case, then the reason for it is as follows: The Pressure Relief Valve should not constantly release water. It will constantly drip for the first 20 minutes after the tank is switched on, it should then only periodically drip, either after you’ve drawn off some water, or just every now and then when the tank needs to come back up to temperature. If the Valve is constantly dripping or running then the cause usually high water pressure – water pressure exceeding 5 bar will cause the Valve to constantly release water because it is designed to open at that pressure. We recommend checking the water pressure with a gauge, and if it is near 5 bar fitting a pressure reducing/limiting valve fitted and limit the pressure to 3 - 4 bar. Pressure reducing valves are available from any good plumbers merchant and if high pressure is the problem then fitting one will solve it.

Vital Capsule Taps have an LED light to indicate when the filter needs to be replaced. A green light indicates that the filter cartridge is working. A red light indicates that the cartridge has filtered 450 litres, and it should be replaced as soon as possible. A flashing red light and reduced flow indicates that the cartridge has filtered 500 litres and needs to be changed.
The timer is powered by a CR2032 battery (lifetime 3 years).
Unscrew the filter housing and remove the old cartridge. Insert new cartridge, screw the filter housing back into place. Reset the electronic timer button. After flashing for 3 seconds, your filtered water is ready to be dispensed.

It is not possible to use the new Franke FilterFlow cartridges in Franke Triflow systems. However, it is possible to purchase an upgrade kit to replace the plastic or stainless steel housing of an existing Triflow tap with the latest Franke FilterFlow stainless steel housing. This is a complete kit that comprises of the latest stainless steel Franke FilterFlow undersink cartridge housing, stainless steel braided hoses and all connectors. The Franke FilterFlow 03 filter cartridge supplied as standard with your Franke FilterFlow system will not resolve what are essentially cosmetic concerns relating to water hardness – namely limescale and surface residues on hot drinks. In fact, the standard Franke 03 filter cartridge was designed primarily with health and security in mind and as such, actually retains calcium and magnesium. Both elements are regarded as beneficial for health, not to mention vital contributory factors to pleasant tasting water.
However, we do recognise that for some at least, hard water and limescale can be unpleasant. If you wish to address this, we would suggest changing your Franke FilterFlow system’s cartridge to an Franke 06 ‘Carbon De Alk’ cartridge at your first cartridge change. In addition, please note that the material used to make teabags can contribute to surface ‘scum’ on hot drinks. We recommend using traditional tea leaves and/or teabags that have been especially formulated for hard water areas, such as ‘Tetley’s’.
Your Franke FilterFlow system relies upon water pressure to push water through the filter cartridge. However, there is no requirement for higher-than-average pressure. A minimum pressure of 1.5 bar / 23 psi is required. On no account should water pressure exceed 6 bar / 90psi.
If you are unsure of your water pressure, a qualified plumber will be able to measure it for you. If it is too low, your plumber will be able to advise you about fitting a small booster pump – or conversely, a suitable pressure reducing pump if the pressure is too high.
Based on pressure of 3 bar/45 psi, your Franke FilterFlow system should deliver 1 litre of water / per 25 seconds. For optimum performance, we recommend adjusting the stop valve on your system to allow a delivery of 1 litre of water/per 30 seconds.

Waste Disposers
One of the advantages that the Franke Turbo Elite Permanent Magnet Motor disposers have over standard Induction Motor WDUs is the starting torque - Franke Turbo Elite WDUs are up to full speed within the first revolution.
Most jams occur at start-up because food waste will be stuffed into the disposer until it is full (this is not the correct way to use the disposer but is more reality).
The Franke Turbo's initial high starting torque gives it the advantage to break through the waste already put into the disposer. Under similar conditions an induction motor disposer can jam as it tries to push the waste around while it builds up speed. When the induction type motor cannot push any more and becomes jammed the "Auto Reverse" feature gives the ability for the unit to run in the opposite direction to break away from the jam condition.

As the overflow would normally connect to the Basket Strainer Waste, you need to purchase either a WDU Connector for a single bowl sink, or a WDU Converter for a bowl and a half sink. These can be purchased from our service agents here.
A Franke Turbo Elite Waste Disposal unit consumes roughly the same power in one month to lighting a 100 watt light bulb for one hour, therefore operating costs are relatively low. The high torque fast grinding Franke Turbo units use very little water.
A Batch Feed model is activated by loading the chamber and rotating the WDU plug. Continous Feed models are operated by an Air Switch (or alternative) and waste is fed through the open neck of the unit. In both cases, a continuous supply of water is necessary whilst the WDU is in use.

The procedure is as follows:
- With the disposer mounted on the sink and line cord connected to a wall outlet receptacle, turn "ON" the wall mounted switch.
- If the disposer is "OFF", depress air switch actuator to turn the disposer "ON".
- With the disposer " ON " pull air switch hose from disposer connectionn and discard air switch actuator and hose.
- Turn the disposer "OFF" by turning off the switch, usually controlled by a wall mounted switch.
- Operation of disposer is now controlled in a typical manner by the wall mounted switch.
The Franke air activated control switch button operates continuous feed waste disposal units from a point determined by the consumer, eg on the worktop or possibly even within the sink perimeter.
Air switches are safer than electric switches because they keep the electricity away from the users' hands. The air switch control mechanism usually mounts under the sink (or is incorporated into the Waste Disposal Unit itself), where it remains dry. From the activated control switch button, an air tube connects with the switch controller, which in turn operates the unit.
The benefit is that the operational switch avoids the necessity to have a wall mounted toggle switch (which itself is electrical), and is therefore neater and safer to operate .
Disconnect the tube from the air switch button, then blow down the tube which should engage the waste disposal unit. Reconnect the air switch button.

Induction hobs generally have an absorption higher than the power of 3 kW available at home. However, to allow the use and containment of Franke consumptions (on some models of the range) it allows the setting of the highest absorption level of the induction hob. It is logical that reducing power limits the ability to exploit the product to maximum performance.
Induction cooking hobs require the cooking pot or saucepan to have a diameter bigger than a certain dimension, which is specified on the product instruction booklet.
The induction hob operates by means of a magnetic field that generates heat on the bottom of the pot when the latter is placed in contact with the surface of the plane. The pot used on this type of cooking stove must be made of special material containing iron and its bottom must be smooth for optimum yield of the inducer. Non-magnetic, aluminum or copper stainless steel pans as well as terracotta or ceramic pans are not suitable for use with induction.
The great benefit of an induction hob is fast cooking times. For example, boiling water for making pasta is much quicker than using a gas hob. .Other benefits include the easy to clean flat glass surface. Another important factor is the digital touch controls for maximum safety and the various customisable cooking zone options.
We advise you to clean your hob when the surface is still warm and the residual heat indicator lamps are off. Firstly, use a scraper to remove any food residue, taking care not to scratch the surface of the glass; then rinse with water and dry well with a clean cloth. We then recommend the use of Franke Hob Cleaner which can be purchased here, this product effectively removes dirt and burnt-on food from your hob, ensuring thorough cleanliness and care.
A ceramic hob works by means of radiant electrical resistors, placed under the glass that diffuse the heat in the corresponding cooking zone. An induction hob, on the other hand, operates by means of coils (inductors) that trigger a magnetic field only if the pot (with iron base) is placed on the hob surface at the selected cooking zone.
The bridging function allows two individual cooking zones to be switched on and adjusted together. Ensure that the power is switched on and simply press in the middle of the power scale of each zone simultaneously, this will show a"[" on one side and "]" on the other to signify the zones are bridged.
It is normal for the hob to produce humming sounds when boiling or cooking. Different types of cookware may produce slight sounds such as buzzes or hums. Lighter weight stainless steel pans produce more noise than heavier pans, like enameled cast iron.
Induction hobs are a very energy efficient way of cooking. They do not produce any heat themselves, but cause the pan to become hot through their electromagnetic induction. This lack of extraneous heat however does have a side effect in that there is no hot air, as you would find in a conventional electric or gas hob, to warm any cold surfaces that water vapour from what is being cooked may come into contact with. Consequently, some of the water vapour and steam produced by the cooking process will condense on these cold surfaces. The amount of condensation on any particular surface will depend on many factors including the ambient temperature in the kitchen, the ambient temperature of the surfaces, the thickness and material from which the surface is made and the type of cooking.
You should consider a hood model designed to combat condensation, such as the Maris Drip Free or the Atmos Steam Off.

The noise of a hood is generated by the airflow that passes inside it during operation. The internal components of our hoods have been built so that the airflow finds few obstacles to its passage, with excellent results in terms of effectiveness and low noise emission. An effective way of avoiding the increase in noise is to use, for the outflow of air, well-sized pipes (120-150 mm in diameter). Dirty or saturated filters can hinder air flow: Periodic cleaning (or replacement) of filters ensures smooth air flow.
The hood must be installed at a minimum distance of 65cm from the hob. We recommend that you do not install it more than 75cm from the hob to properly remove vapours and steam. NB Some angled hoods are required to be fitted at a height of 45cm from the hob. Always check the Installation Instructions for your hood to check the correct distance required.
Choose pipes of 150mm in diameter (or no less than 120mm), with a ducting length of no longer than 3-4 metres, and with a maximum of 2 curves. WARNING: The guarantee does not cover any damage caused by failure to observe minimum safety distances.
It is preferable to install a hood on an outside wall, as this is the most effect and quiet solution; emitting polluted air outside via ducting, and drawing in new air. However, hoods can be installed onto party walls, or suspended from a ceiling. To install a hood in recycling mode (ie with no ducting to outside) a Charcoal Filter must also be purchased - these can be obtained by contacting Central Services.
The model of hood is detailed on the label within the product (accessible by removing the metal / grid filters) with a code in the upper right of 7 or 9 digits starting at 63 ..., or a code of 10 digits with 110.xxxx.xxx format.
Your retailer or installer should check the hood either directly during installation or when the box is opened. Subsequent complaints can not be recognised as guarantee claims via our service agents.

Filters are an integral part of the hood, their maintenance affects the efficiency, safety and noise of the hood. Anti-grease filters protect the engine from the grease contained in vapours extracted by the hood. The metal filters on Franke hoods filter a high level of fat particles. To keep them efficient, just wash them by hand or dishwasher, on average every 2 months. Synthetic filters, possibly on some old models, are not washable and should be replaced when fat impregnated, about every 2 months. The odour filters are activated charcoal cartridges to be installed exclusively on hoods fitted in reciculatory mode. They are not washable and should be replaced periodically, on average every 3 months.
A ducting diameter of 150mm is recommended as the ideal for hoods with a capacity of 300 mc / h or hight. If it is not possible to install this diameter of ducting, we recommend a 120mm diameter pipe. Smaller pipes adversely affect the flow rate and noise of the hood.
An effective hood must be powerful enough to change the air in the room 10 times an hour, when in operation.
To decide which hood to choose, first calculate the volume of the room. This figure can be arrived at by multiplying room length x width x height. So a kitchen that is 4 x 4 x 2.5 metres has a volume of 40 m3.
This room volume figure is then further multiplied by 10 to obtain the optimum rate of airflow for that room, based on the need to change the air ten times an hour. So a kitchen of 40 m3 x 10 = 400 - meaning it would require an extraction rate of 400 m3/h for efficient ventilation of the room.
Induction hobs are a very energy efficient way of cooking. They do not produce any heat themselves, but cause the pan to become hot through their electromagnetic induction. This lack of extraneous heat however does have a side effect in that there is no hot air, as you would find in a conventional electric or gas hob, to warm any cold surfaces that water vapour from what is being cooked may come into contact with. Consequently, some of the water vapour and steam produced by the cooking process will condense on these cold surfaces. The amount of condensation on any particular surface will depend on many factors including the ambient temperature in the kitchen, the ambient temperature of the surfaces, the thickness and material from which the surface is made and the type of cooking.
You could consider an Anti-Condensation model of hood such as the Atmos which is especially designed for use with induction hobs, which keeps your kitchen dry by capturing steam and fumes before they condense on surfaces.
You should always aim to fit an angled glass hood at the height specified in the Installation Instructions (typically 450mm above the worktop, but the exact measurement is always specified in the Instructions) to ensure optimum efficiency. If you choose to fit the hood higher, eg for aesthetical reasons, then this is your choice, however you will appreciate that if the hood is fitted higher than recommended, then it's performance will decrease accordingly.

Ovens
A new oven, when first switched on, always emits odour due to manufacturing residues. Before starting to use it for cooking food, it is good practice to heat the empty oven at maximum temperature for about 1 hour, opening a window to ventilate the room.
The oven cooling fan continues to work for a while even after it is switched off, to decrease the internal temperature quicker.
The Pyrolytic function is an automatic cleaning function that, thanks to the high temperature reached, is able to burn off dirt and grease on the cavity walls. Throughout the pyrolytic process, the door remains locked for total safety. At the end of the cycle, when the cavity has cooled down, it is sufficient to simply clean the interior by removing dirt and grease burned with a sponge and then with a microfibre cloth.
Under normal oven use, simply run the Pyroltyic function once a month. However, if you bake frequently or you bake large quantities of food, it is advisable to run the Pyrolytic cycle more frequently.
There is one set of telescopic guides provided on the ovens allow you to easily introduce and extract safely baking trays or grids, as well as more conveniently control cooking.Additional Set of telescopic guides are available to purchase from Central Services.
Use glass cleaner and a soft cloth or sponge. Pour the glass cleaner onto the cloth or sponge, do not spray it directly onto the control panel. Do not use abrasive detergents, steel wool, rough sponges, or some types of absorbent paper that could damage the surfaces.

The Cook Assit Pro feature contains additional recipes which can be customised with different foods. This feature is available on both pyrolytic and steam ovens.

There is a special programme to empty the water tank via a pipe. The oven will not work again until this is done, so needs to be done after every steam cooking session.
The touch control oven is fully automatic, and the manual control oven is semi-automatic, also there are fewer functions/recipes on the manual model.

Microwaves (Combi)
Dirt and grease are the cause of sparks in the microwaves, as well as the use of metal elements. Carefully clean the inside of the appliance, preferably with a detergent specifically for microwave ovens. Be careful to only use dishes and containers suitable for microwave use.
Try resetting the equipment by pulling the plug out of the socket for about 1 minute to briefly turning off the power supply.
Check that the plate has not been overloaded: the maximum capacity of the turntable is 1.5kg. Check that the microwave oven is clean: moisture or fat at the bottom of the appliance may prevent the dish from turning easily. Check that the plate has been properly positioned: the swivel plate must be positioned in such a way that the rollers fit into the bottom of the metal groove.
Check for the presence of mains electrical power and whether the microwave is connected to the electricity supply. Turn off the oven and restart it to see if the fault persists. If the microwave does not restart, this could be a power cut.
The cooling fan is active, open the door or wait until the cooling process has finished.
The quick heat feature, is used for quickly reheating the oven before a cooking cycle. Wait for the function to finish before placing food inside the oven.
You can press the 'X', symbol at any time to pause the function. Simply reselect and apply the settings you require, press start symbol to activate the correct function.
There is a table in the User Manual which states the optimum power for certain types of food and the length of time to warm up or cook.
