Een toevluchtsoord in een stadsoase

Isola is een hippe, licht excentrieke wijk net buiten het centrum van Milaan. Dit gebied zit vol met lokale boetiekjes, door families gerunde trattoria's, groene binnenplaatsen en vlooienmarkten en is de thuisbasis van lokale en internationale creatieve bureaus, ontwerpstudio's en de galeries die het zoemende Piazza Archinto flankeren. Kenmerkend voor Milaan is de architectuur die bestaat uit hoge gebouwen en kleine smalle straatjes, maar het is een van de weinige gebieden van de stad waar je na het werk kunt ontspannen onder het genot van een glas wijn of een aperitivo en een panoramische zonsondergang kunt meemaken.

Met kastenblokken die de architectonische lijnen van de woning volgen, vereiste Giulia's ontwerp slim geïntegreerde apparaten. Door te kiezen voor een oven, magnetron en warmhoudlade van de Mythos collectie, een inbouwkoffiemachine en een Fragranite spoelbak, allemaal zwart, creëerde ze een verbluffend effect en een natuurlijke workflow in de keuken.

Designhoofdstad

Ontmoet Giulia, een 41-jarige creatief directrice van een modeblad. Haar ambitie bij het herinrichten van haar huis was om een toevluchtsoord te creëren dat een eerbetoon zou zijn aan de sfeer, kunst en hartelijkheid van Isola. Als voormalig model, nu verloofd met haar partner Matteo, en moeder van twee dochters, Anna en Giorgia, haalt ze inspiratie uit de hoeken van haar buurt, met zijn ateliers en boetiekjes vol stoffen. Ze houdt van gezond koken en moderne klassieke dans, is een liefhebber van Bruno Munari en verzamelt designobjecten van lokale markten en boetieks.
