Een toevluchtsoord in een stadsoase

Isola is een hippe, licht excentrieke wijk net buiten het centrum van Milaan. Met zijn aparte winkeltjes, familierestaurants, vlooienmarkten en vele street art vormt het gebied een hotspot van plaatselijke en internationale creatieve bedrijven, designstudio's en kunstgalerieën, met het Piazzale Archinto als bruisend middelpunt. Ondanks de hoge bebouwing rond de wijk die typerend is voor Milaan, is Isola een van de weinige plekken in de stad waar je na het werk onder het genot van een glas van wijn of ander aperitief kunt genieten van een panoramische zonsondergang.

Met kastenblokken die de architectonische lijnen van de woning volgen, vereiste Giulia's ontwerp slim geïntegreerde apparaten. Door te kiezen voor een Fragranit spoelbak Kubus 2.0 in het zwart mat, creëerde ze een verbluffend optisch effect en een natuurlijke workflow in de keuken.

Designhoofdstad

Onder de polsslag van de 'movida', het Italiaanse uitgaansleven, is Milaan is een werelddesignstad waar een rijke historie van vormgeving en stijl de voedingsbodem vormt voor een uitbundige levensstijl en culturele ontplooiing. Dit is Giulia, 41 jaar en creatief directeur van een modeblad. Ze leeft samen met haar partner Matteo en hun twee dochtertjes Anna en Giorgia. Haar ambitie bij het interieurontwerp van haar woning was het creëren van een toevluchtsoord waarin de essentie, kunst en warmte van de wijk Isola tot uitdrukking zou komen. Als voormalig fotomodel heeft ze zich daarbij onder andere laten inspireren door de werkplaatsen en stoffenwinkels in haar buurt. Ze houdt van gezond koken en moderne klassieke dans. Als fan van Bruno Munari snuffelt ze graag op de vlooienmarkten en in de winkeltjes in haar buurt, op zoek naar bijzondere designobjecten.
