Franke Industrial Engineering, the business unit of Franke AG and one of the "know-how centers" of the Franke group, manufactures precision components for power generating gas turbines and aerospace engines, while supplying industrial clients with components and prefabricated parts for a wide range of applications. The business unit has experienced sustained growth over a considerable time, with significant increases in order volumes, staff numbers and sales revenues. This has put increasing pressure on the infrastructure of the unit's production premises, and the construction of a new building became an urgent priority. After a period of just eight months, a new building complex – a special steel and glass structure – was completed and ready for occupation in September 2001.

The modular structure is the first Franke construction project to be built according to the "master plan" developed by Franke for production plants. The modulebased Industrial Engineering factory building is approx. 1,500 m², and consists of two parts: a production area, and a two-level office section. Sound-proof safety glass, installed from floor to ceiling, serves as interior walls to provide visibility between working areas and light transfer into the production plant. Franke's modular factory concept is specifically designed to provide the flexibility needed for a variety of uses,

and the structures can generally be extended in any direction required. Installed in the production facility is a new extra-high deep-drawing press. The CNC-operated hydraulic press, with a total weight of 270 metric tons – the equivalent of 180 automobiles – is used to produce a range of products for Industrial Engineering and tool testing applications. With the high capacity provided by the press, Franke is now able to machine special products with a high level of efficiency, completely in-house.
