Franke Romont SA, a 100% subsidiary of Franke Holding AG, has been
supplying bathroom furniture for over a quarter of a century, primarily
to the sanitary equipment sector in Switzerland. Initially, the
company produced mostly wooden furniture for the residential and
catering areas, and for hospitals, but even then it was manufacturing
its first bathroom furniture. In setting up a subsidiary in Romont,
Franke wished to strengthen its presence in the western, French-speaking
part of Switzerland, and to ensure the necessary production capacity
to meet the growing demand for specialty wooden furniture. The strategic
reasons for establishing a Franke plant in the region still hold
good today: the excellent transport connections, a good pool of
skilled labor, and subsidies from local authorities for industrial
development. Even 25 years later, these advantages have lost none
of their attraction.
Franke Romont began operations with just 13 people. Staff numbers have increased in the meantime to 40, and the company posted a turnover in the last financial year of CHF 9 million.

In the meantime, the plant has been expanded twice, and now has a production floor space of just under 5,500 m². Sales and Division management were integrated into the company structure in 1989, turning what was originally purely a production facility into a full-fledged business unit of Franke AG, Aarburg, Switzerland. In January 1999, it was then transformed into an independent corporation. |
