.It's hardly surprising
therefore that issues such as population control and effective use
of space are high on the Chinese political agenda. According to statistics,
the consistent application of the “one-child family” policy has resulted
in the average household size of a city family falling to approximately
3.14 persons. Despite this, people have only a kitchen space of roughly
2 m 2 to work in.
Yet, although they only possess a miniature kitchen, the Chinese traditionally
need a relatively large area to wash and prepare their meals. For
Franke – which, up to now, is still the only foreign manufacturer
of sinks with its own production facility in China – these statistics
provided a clear message of the challenge it faced: to design a good-quality
sink of generous dimensions, which was practical to use and, above
all, reasonably priced. You can see the results of the company's efforts
in the illustrations – the new sink range GENEVA specially tailored
to Chinese requirements.

to Chinese requirements for a washing facility in the kitchen area.
The GEX series comprises four double-basin sink units and three single-compartment
sinks with a separate sink strainer. These generously dimensioned
sinks measure 815 x 450 mm, with a depth of 180 or 200 mm, making
these models unique in the Franke sink range. |
