With around 70,000 industry visitors from all over the world, equaling the numbers in 1997, Munich has clearly demonstrated once again that, every 4 years, it becomes the international focal point of the beverages industry. Despite the dramatic events in the USA shortly beforehand, visitor numbers were generally high during the week of the fair, from 20 to 27 September 2001. The new exhibition site was used for the first time, with coherent divisions for the different sectors of the industry and a service-friendly infrastructure, which certainly helped to boost the numbers.

Franke Beverages Containers Division took the opportunity provided by this beverages industry “world economic summit” to present its full product range on two stands in the vicinity of Hall A1. The Franke Blefa stand again provided a comprehensive overview of its wide selection of high-quality beverages containers:

• Stainless steel kegs
• Finn kegs with polyethylene top ring and foot ring
• Party kegs and party barrels with Bavarian tapping
• Kegs with rubber top ring and foot ring (which will also be supplied from Kreuztal once production has moved)

The different designs for smaller kegs attracted particular interest. There has been a marked increase in demand for these as the result of more intense com-petition between beer brands in the catering industry, along with the growing exploitation of market niches. A second item of major interest for visitors was the extended keg service program with the options of reducing barrel sizes and exchanging top rings with
new labeling. The Franke Helmond stand, by contrast, offered an impressive display of the wide range of bar counters and counter systems manufactured in Holland. The positive response from customers stemmed not least from the excellent teamwork at both Franke

stands, and generally made the appearance at the fair an unqualified success for the Franke Beverages Containers Division. The commitment shown towards customers was rounded off by several visitor evenings to the Munich Oktoberfest.
