Since the beginning of May 2000 the Troisdorf based
company Steeldesign GmbH belongs to the Franke Group. The company
produces stainless steel housings for the electrical industry. Its
customers are not only manufacturers of machines and control equipment
for the food processing industry (meat, dairy products and beverages),
but also come from the chemicals and pharmaceuticals industries,
or from power station construction (from incinerating plants to
nuclear power stations). The speciality that makes Steeldesign GmbH
unique, is the production of housings that are powerwasher-proof,
thanks to a protected hinge system.

Its predecessor, AB Steeldesign
GmbH was founded in 1991. The first standard housing ranges were launched
on the market using modern CAD/CAM techniques: wall-mounted housings,
freestanding and built-in cabinets. These stainless steel housings
are used anywhere extreme cleanliness is important, or the environmental
conditions are particularly hostile. The housings are constantly being
improved in collaboration with the customers. The 19 " electronic
housing range originated in this way. Steeldesign GmbH can give its
attention to individual customer requirements thanks to its flexible
production technology. Special housings are developed in small and
medium sized ranges in agreement with the customers and as a special
service. The demands on stainless steel housings are increasing steadily,
and with the specialisation in stainless steel, the core competence
of Steeldesign GmbH is shifting more to the development of housings
with the highest protection systems. With its innovative protected
hinge system, the company is today the only manufacturer in the world
who produces powerwasher-proof stainless steel housings that meet
protection type IP69K. This means that the housings can be sprayed
down with a powerwasher without the water penetrating inside the housing.
With an amazingly simple construction, the water jet is diverted so
that it doesn't fall on the seal. The stainless steel processor's
production has been monitored by the VDE organisation since 1997,
and the company is registered under VDE 4812.

Apart from the core business
of housing technology, the new Franke company also produces construction
and precision parts to customer requirements, even machine housings.
With its know-how, innovative development and a highly motivated team,
Steeldesign GmbH sees itself as a problem solver that offers more
than "off the peg" housings. Franke sees a high potential for development
in the new acquisition, and its objective is to consolidate the previous
business activities of the Metal Construction profit centre of the
Swiss subsidiary Franke AG, Aarburg, on the German market. Steeldesign
is the perfect partner in this objective:the high quality of its products
and its excellent solutions to problems correspond to the Metal Construction
profit centre's high requirements.
