Sinks
- Discoloration and most marks on stainless steel are caused by water-borne deposits clinging to the surface. One of the best ways to keep your stainless steel sink in pristine condition is to clean it with Inox Crème, which can be used daily. Inox Crème is available from any of our Distributors.
- Routinely clean stainless steel when noticeably dull or dirty. Routine simple, gentle and inexpensive cleaning will retain both the corrosion resistance and appearance of stainless steel through years of exposure and use.
- Stainless steel responds well to clean water or a mild detergent solution, applied with a soft cloth or sponge, rinsed well and wiped dry. Always clean stainless steel with the grain and never scrub in a circular pattern.
- Occasionally and if necessary, a small amount of a thin cream paste or mild household abrasive (or equivalent industrial product) such as Franke Inox Crème, may be used on a soft cloth wetted with the detergent solution to remove stubborn dirt or slight incipient stains. Rub gently.
- Never use abrasives, scouring powders or steel wool.
Most Franke sinks have rigid overflow pipes and can be cleaned by pouring boiling water into them.
All Franke sinks are available as right hand or left hand drainer and where a sink is only available in one format, this is always specified. Reversible sinks automatically offer that choice.
No. Stainless Steel will always scratch (whether it be of Franke’s manufacture or a competitor) and this is because of the directional polishing marks on many Franke models the scratching will show up quite dramatically initially. However, with use and cleaning (using Franke Inox Crème) the stainless steel will eventually build up a patina over the years and the scratching marks will not be as evident.
Stainless Steel is corrosion, fire and heat resistant, hygienic and has long term value. It has a strength-to-weight advantage and its aesthetic appearance is a great advantage.
Apart from a more modern sophisticated look to the sink surface, Linen finish has a higher resistance to scratches than the more common satin stainless steel finish.
A Basket Strainer Waste Fitting (referred to as a BSW) collects all the bits of left over food floating in the sink water. The Basket Strainer Waste can be removed from the sink and emptied into the waste bin, thus preventing drain blockage.
An Automatic Pop-Up Basket Strainer Waste is a switch fitted to the sink which on a turn pops up the Basket Strainer Waste allowing the water to drain from the sink. The benefit is that one doesn’t have to place one’s hand into the hot water to remove the BSW, once the water has drained one can remove the BSW and dispose of any bits of food that have been left behind.
- Inset sinks are those sinks that fit into the actual counter which has been cut out to hold that particular sink.
- They have a finished edge rim which holds the sink in place, together with clips and sealant.
- The advantages of an inset sink are that they are easy to install and can be used with a variety of worktops, such as granite, wood, etc.
- They also can be replaced without destroying your counter top.
- This type of sink fits underneath the counter top and no rim is visible.
- They give a smooth, seamless appearance that blends well with kitchens of modern design.
With a drop-on sink, the sink unit itself replaces the counter top.
