Our Contribution

For the Franke Artemis Group it is important that both thoughts and actions take place in the context of long-term environmental considerations – across all businesses. Here are some examples how we contribute to sustainability on a daily basis.

Particularly energy efficiency in Coffee Machines

Franke as a leading provider of super automatic professional and semi-professional coffee machines is conscious about the responsibility for the reduction of the environmental impact of energy-driven products – which account for the majority share of energy consumption in the community. Independent of current statutory regulations, Franke has been improving the energy efficiency and environmental balance of their coffee machines for years.

The PURA coffee machine – the latest development of Franke Coffee Systems - already meets the requirements for lower environmental pollution according to the European EuP (Engergy using Product) guidelines which will apply as of 2014. Thanks to intelligent energy management the PURA supports saving energy and costs. Often it is a challenge to not only adhere to customer preferences but also to consider energy-saving efforts.

The results and knowleged gained from the collaboration with working groups, associations and – of course – customers are regularly incorporated into both the new and the ongoing development of Franke coffee machines.

Particularly energy-efficient: Franke hoods

Faber S.p.A., a leading hood manufactuer and a Franke company, developped a hood model named MIRROR. This hood integrates the latest Energy Saving technologies in order to reduce the evironmental impact during the use of the  product. Thanks to the three phase asyncronous motor 60-90%  less power consumption on the ventilation group is achieved. Furthermore, the VELO LED lights allow an energy saving of 80% compared to halogen lights. Considering the standard operating cycle of the hood the total power consumption is now reduced by 85% compared to a traditional model with a benefit both for single user and the community.

Particularly water saving: Protonic S

Water and energy saving sanitary fittings for applications in public, semi-public and commercial sanitary rooms have been in the focus at Franke for many years. Franke Aquarotter GmbH, located in Ludwigsfelde, Germany, has developed the electronic tap PROTONIC-S and defines herewith new standards.

The water in touch-free taps flows only when it is needed This reduces water consumption and therefore operating costs. Compared to traditional fittings which use 3.1 liter of water per activation the electronic tap reduces the water consumption by 50 percent.

Thanks to innovative onto-electronic sensor technology the battery time could be extended by approximately 5 years and this by 150 activations per day.

Particularly eco-friendly: New Franke Headquarters in the USA

Franke's commitment to sustainability and dealing with the natural world and resources in a careful manner is also embodied by its new US head office in Smyrna, Tennessee – and this has also been officially recognized by the state: the new building, which opened with great celebrations in November 2009, has been awarded a Silver Certificate for "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)" by the United States Green Building Council. In its new building, Franke implemented a total of 33 measures that are beneficial for the environment, including: a white, heat-reflecting roof, so less cooling is required, marked preferential parking spaces for hybrid vehicles, bicycle stands, water-saving taps and toilets, non-toxic, environmentally-friendly paints, sealants and adhesives, a design that provides 90% of the personnel with natural light, solar panels and much more besides.
